ACEE employs a streamlined three‑step submission process to support authors in civil and environmental engineering with a transparent and equitable experience. Please follow the structure below carefully before submitting your manuscript.

Step 1: Prepare Your Manuscript

  • Use standard file formats (Microsoft Word or TeX-based documents).
  • Include the following in this order: Title page, Abstract & Keywords, Main Text, Acknowledgements, References, Appendices.
  • Title page must list full author names, affiliations, corresponding author contact details, and a short running head (≤ 50 characters).
  • Abstract: ≤ 300 words summarizing objectives, methods, key findings, and conclusions. Provide 5–7 keywords.
  • Structure main text with labeled sections: Introduction; Methods; Results; Discussion; Conclusions.
  • Figures, tables, and equations must be numbered sequentially and include descriptive captions. High-resolution images (≥ 300 dpi) are preferred.
  • Reference style: consistent with standard engineering citation formats. Ensure completeness and accuracy.

Step 2: Submit via Online Portal

  • Register or log in to the ACEE submission system.
  • Complete the submission form and upload main manuscript, supplementary files, cover letter, and conflict-of-interest disclosure.
  • Confirm authorship agreement from all contributors.
  • Select relevant subject categories (e.g., Sustainable Infrastructure, Water Resource Systems, Geo‑environmental Engineering).

Step 3: After Submission

  • Initial editorial checks will assess scope, originality, format compliance and ethical readiness.
  • If accepted for review, the manuscript will undergo double‑blind peer review (see Peer Review Policy).
  • You will receive reviewer feedback and editorial decision within approximately 4–6 weeks.
  • If revisions are requested, upload revised manuscript and a point-by-point response to reviewers.
  • Upon final acceptance, APC invoices are issued, and publication proceeds after payment.

Manuscript Types

ACEE accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Research Articles: 4,000–8,000 words with original empirical research.
  • Review Articles: 6,000–10,000 words summarizing developments in civil/environmental engineering.
  • Short Communications: ≤ 2,500 words—focused on timely findings.
  • Case Studies & Perspectives: 3,000–5,000 words, offering practical insights or strategic viewpoints.

Language & Writing Style

Manuscripts must be written in clear, professional English. Use technical terms accurately and consistently. Non-native speakers are encouraged to seek language editing prior to submission.

Data & Supplementary Materials

Authors should provide raw data, computational code, and supplementary appendices when applicable. These may be submitted as separate downloadable files and linked within the main text.

Ethical Declarations

  • Declare funding sources and conflicts of interest in a separate section.
  • Include ethics approval statements and consent documentation for studies involving human participants or environmental impact assessments.
